Over the years I’ve documented life’s treasures through journaling, scrapbooking, photography, videos, and Facebook posts. Each visit to these documented memories warms my heart, adjusts my current life perspective, and allows me the joy of sharing the memories with the ones who may not remember providing it.
Recently, I discovered writing was a valuable tool in my self-care kit. My words may not be poetic, arranged smartly as quality literature but they do soothe my soul as they touch the pages.
Since embarking on our homesteading journey, documenting events has also become encouragement to grow as we are reminded on how much we have already built or repaired. It has become an opportunity to grow as we learn from past mistakes or experiment with the results of new techniques, materials or tools. Of course, our family and friends have been interested with the family and all the happenings on Lochend. However, we are noticing many others, including complete strangers, are intrigued with many of the categories of our chosen lifestyle of Homesteading, Hobby Farming, Home Schooling, Fostering, and Renovations & Restoration.
2023 blessed us with the beginning of our second generation. Grandma & Grandpa have been added to our resume of life. It also celebrated the union of our daughter with her childhood sweetheart. I had the honour of speaking…*clears throat*…sobbing through a mother-of-the-bride speech, at my first borns wedding reception, which to my great joy, took place right here on Lochend Allevare. I may have made a bit of a fool of myself, however am grateful her day was sprinkled with a little of moms love through words of praise, banter and reminisce. My husband had the forethought to capture this spectacle with an amateur iPhone recording. I rewatch it when I’m in need of a soul refreshing cry. That poor quality video is an invaluable treasure, stored within the pages of this blog.
This blog is a space for our family to open the door of our beautiful life, for those who wish to visit. It is a gift to ourselves, and to our current and future generations. It is a place to explore the nooks and crannies of a mothers heart for her home and her children. I hope you enjoy your time here.
